Massive crowds made it over the ferry to rock out with some of music’s greatest on Governors Island this past Saturday.
I made my way through thousands of festival fanatics, plotting my spot in the madness. Some of the best sounds came from Big Boi of Outkast, who was killing it with two new solo numbers and pleasing the crowd with the group’s classic hits like Fresh & So Clean and Bombs Over Baghdad. DJ Mac Miller, Passion Pit (DJ Set), and Das Racist performed a round of sets that had the crowd on it’s feet and dancing. The perfect way for this Minkette to get her Saturday pumped.
Empire of the Sun served up one of the day’s best sets!! I know I was definitely Walking on a Dream.
“We are the People” of Governors Ball, 2011!!!
Put your hands up, they’re playing my song. Party in the USA!
Girl Talk: always a crowd pleaser with amazing visual effects on stage.
As if people weren’t already tripping. Beach balls hit the crowd in a storm of lights.
Pretty Lights served up heavy, hip-hop, electronic mash-up remixes as the day’s final set.
Words can’t explain how incredible Pretty Lights is live. A personal fave and definitely the highlight of the day.
ONE WORD: EPIC.
Governors Ball, 2012 can’t get here sooner!
