Sun-kissed and desert-inspired looks permeated the Rebecca Minkoff Spring/Summer 2013 runway, thanks to the brilliant beauty mind of Stila Pro-Artist Sarah Lucero. Turquoise-brushed eyelids paired with dewy cheeks and lips were the perfect complement to Rebecca’s collection, which was inspired by Slim Aarons’ glamorous poolside photography of the 60s and 70s. Want to get the look? Just follow Sarah’s how-to steps below.

Rebecca Minkoff Spring/Summer 2013 Face Chart

“Visions of a California road trip through the desert inspired the beauty look for the Rebecca Minkoff spring 2013 show. I imagined a really cool girl driving a convertible car through the desert to a music festival.  The makeup definitely had a vintage vibe to it. Here’s what I used to create the look.”

Foundation: ”Skin had a natural glow and was perfected and looked polished. I used the Stila Stay All Day Foundation & Concealer (my latest backstage beauty obsession). It makes your skin look great and natural yet covers up anything you need to. The formula is beyond amazing.”

Brows: ”Brows were bold and brushed up – the secret backstage was to ‘warm’ them up a bit by dusting in a hint of Fire Eye Shadow, a matte sienna rust shade found inside Stila’s In The Know Eye Shadow Palette. This added a softness to bold brows and added to the warmth of the makeup.”

Eyes: ”Last step is to add a dash of pastel mint green with a pencil eyeliner. I focused on the inner corner of eyes and let it fade/diffuse up and out. It looked so cool and worked on every single girl. It easily adds a coolness factor to your makeup look, just like adding a cool colorful Rebecca Minkoff bag to any outfit….one little addition makes the biggest and best difference.”

Cheeks & Lips: ”Makeup was fresh with caramel tones on the cheeks and lips – very sun-kissed and natural feeling.”

Girls on the run like us need make-up that can keep up. At our last visit to the magical world of Sephora (every Minkettes’ favorite playground) we discovered an amazing double-ended cream stick for both blush and bronzer – the Charlotte Ronson 2 X A Charm Double-Ended Brush & Bronzer Cream Stick. It is the perfect on-the-go makeup tool to give us that just-came-back-from-the-beach summer glow. Both sides feature a rich, creamy texture that glides effortlessly onto our cheeks and blends in easily for a super natural look. Plus, there’s no messy powder to spill – we’re obsessed!

Summer weather is upon us, and we cannot be happier! However, the heat tends to mess with our ‘do quite a bit, which is why we jumped for joy for Mark’s Double Do Shape and Gloss Kit. It is the perfect Minkette on-the-go-touch-up must-have of the season! The too-cute for words compact has a large mirror and two necessary compartiments – a shaping wax that provides texture and definition AND a solid gloss to help smooth fly-aways and leave hair shiny. We are also moving that the slim compact fits perfectly into any of our summer Rebecca Minkoff Clutches or Pouches.

It is starting to get warm outside again, but until NYC hits the 80* mark we cannot lay out in Central Park quite yet. Luckily Keiko Lynn teaches us to cover up our porcelain skin with her makeup tips on how to restore our natural glow. What better way to start your week, then by looking beautiful this Monday morning!

There is nothing harder then getting out of bed on Monday mornings – the weekends are just too short. At least we can now dazzle at our desk all week long thanks to make-up tips from the Beauty Bean. We love their simple ideas for looking beautiful yet professionally-chic.

Tip #1: Brighten bland eye shadows with cream shadows adding a hint of shimmer and a unique bronze sheen. Recommendation: The Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill Intense Eye Shadows in number 6 – Khaki Pulse.

Tip #2: Use a gloss or stain on the lips. A simple fuchsia gloss will make you look vibrant without looking too cool for work. Recommendation: The Nars Lip Lacquers.

Tip #3: Use luminizers on your face to help play up your facial features. Combined with blush, you’ll be able to highlight your favorites features subtly and gorgeously. Recommendation: Nars Multiples Cream-Based Makeup Stick In Luxor.

Tip #4: Always say yes to colored eyeliner. They are perfect for daytime because it is not as dramatic as black and add personality to your makeup routine. Recommendation: YSL Long-Lasting Waterproof Eye Pencil in Ultramarine.
