Shoes

Rebecca's shoe collection.

This week, we caught up with Rebecca Minkoff herself on her favorite topic: shoes. A self-described “shoe addict,” Rebecca reveals how her love of shoes began, what’s on her wish list right now and her future shoe designing plans.

My shoe obsession started when…

It all started when a boyfriend of mine back in 2003 gave me a pair of orange patent Sigerson Morrison flats. Every time I would look down at my feet, they would make me so happy.

The shoes I can’t live without this fall

The Diva Heels in midnight blue suede with black straps. They’re versatile, will go with almost any outfit and despite being a heel, are very comfortable.

The thing about shoes that has me completely, madly, deeply in love…

It’s a way to showcase personality. I like that you can take risks with shoes – it’s easier to take a risk with novelty shoes than novelty skirts, pants or tops.

How I would describe my shoe closet…

I need an intervention. My shoes have overgrown my space and it’s to a point where I forget about shoes that I have and that I love. In other words, I need help!

My favorite everyday shoes…

A bootie is the perfect day-to-day shoe. My Isabel Marant booties have become a go-to, but I love my black RM Sari Boots for colder weather.

My future shoe design plans…

Sneakers are not out of the question. Something very fun is in the works.

My dream shoes are…

The Laurence Dacade burgundy quilted boots – they’re pretty delicious.

My shoe wish list right now…

I want all of them.

Bloggers cannot get enough of Rebecca Minkoff’s footwear. Brooklyn Blonde paired her Rebecca Minkoff Lizard Embossed Jaunt Stilettos with cheetah pants and a leather jacket for an edgy look. Keiko Lynn rocked her Rebecca Minkoff Bliss Pumps with floral pants and a white jacket for a more feminine style. We think shoes are definitely a girl’s best friend, and love their inspired styles. The blogosphere has introduced us to another awesome footwear trend: shoes with metallic accents. Aimee of Song Of Style, Liz of Late Afternoon, and Chantal of Cocorosa have all been sporting heels with touches of silver and gold, and we have been lusting over every pair. We can’t wait to try the trend out this summer with our Bardot Sandals!

Unless your shoe closet is stocked with our Solange Wedges and Drew Cage Heels, you most likely have a few pairs of shoes that need some spicing up. We needed to add some pizzazz to our drab old heels, so we DIY’d these adorable Glitter Bow Shoe Clips with supplies from M&J Trimming. Check out our instructions below.

Supplies:

  • Two 7 inch pieces of glittery ribbon
  • Two 6 inch pieces of glittery ribbon
  • Two 3 inch pieces
  • Glue,
  • Two large jewels
  • Two clips (we used suspender clips)

Directions:

  1. Glue the ends of a 7 inch piece of ribbon together to make a circle. Do the same with a 6 inch piece. Place the smaller piece on top of the large one and glue them together in the center.
  2. Wrap the 3 inch piece around the middle of the two pieces and glue the ends to the bottom of the large piece.
  3. Flip the bow over and glue a suspender clip to the bottom.
  4. If desired, glue a large jewel to the top of the bow.
  5. Let your clips dry, and then attach them to your favorite shoes. All done!
